Marine Rescue Sydney is the State’s Communication Centre. Our Marine Radio Operators are listening on VHF Channel 16 and answering phone calls – 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

We are the largest volunteer radio base in NSW.

We provide a free monitoring service for all recreational boats that log their offshore trip with us.

We are first responders for any distress or assistance calls in the Greater Sydney coastline and waterways and for many Marine Rescue bases up and down the NSW Coast in the evening and overnight.

We broadcast key messages to our boating community, such as weather warnings and hazard areas.

We provide key liaison role as the Marine Radio Operator in the event of a rescue operation that involves several different emergency services. We provide nationally recognised marine radio courses for the general public.
