Marine Rescue Safety Service (Radio Club)

The MRSS is a time-saving service offered to boat and watercraft owners and operators to facilitate their “logging on” with vessel details, voyage plans, and contact details recorded in a tracking sheet as required by the State Rescue Board.

Subscribers to the Marine Rescue Sydney MRSS are issued with a unique call-sign i.e. SY which stands for Sydney. This allows radio operators to immediately access their details and log them and off for local trips or voyages up and down the NSW coast. This saves time and obviates the necessity to broadcast personal information.

Subscription is available to all boat and watercraft owners by completing the Application Form and paying the subscription. At Marine Rescue Sydney, the current rates are:-

Joining fee                               $25

1 year subscription                 $40                  total $65

3 year subscription                 $100                total $125

Membership of the MRSS enables boat owners to become involved with Marine Rescue Sydney and identify with this vital emergency service. Involvement encourages you to practice safe boating, keep up to date with changes in procedures and requirements, know the availability of education courses and give real support for our efforts to ensure safety of life at sea and on all our waterways.

In June 2015, Marine Rescue NSW developed and made freely available to the boating public, the Marine Rescue APP.   This system enables owners to store their details and log on/log off themselves – this information is then available to all Marine Rescue bases.
